- Kentaro Miura, Berserk -
"In this world, is the destiny of mankind controlled by some
transcendental entity or law? It is as if the hand of God is
hovering above. At least, man cannot control even his own
will. Man takes up the sword to shield the small wound in
his heart sustained in a time long past, beyond remembrance.
Man wields the sword so that he may die smiling in a distant
place beyond perception."
S T R U G G L E R is the second album from Nighthämmer and
with it the graduation of the band’s violence and craft. The
album’s composition, from inception to execution, is
entirely dedicated to and inspired by the life’s work of the
artist Kentaro Miura. The polemics presented inside of his
dark medieval fantasy hold true abject horrors as well
immutable triumph. Allied again with the evil wizard of
Earhammer Studios in Oakland, CA, “Grammy” Greg Wilkinson
has honed the band’s aural strengths into a sadistic point.
A sonic weapon, a blade balanced between a hilt of Mercyful
Fate and Iron Maiden heavy metal production, with a cruel
edge honed on their unique take on Immortal, Kvist, and
Darkthrone scando-black metal.
